library digital lab
YOUMedia is teaming with Milwaukee Public Library to create a digital learning floor within the library. The second-floor space will be designed in a way to invite students into a stimulating, collected area to learn and produce with bright color schemes, materials, and design elements. Creating an evenly balanced room dynamic between open and enclosed spaces will allow users to focus on their work while maintaining an airy and inviting feel.
The end goal with this project was to integrate a natural balance of fun colors and botanical elements to a space that would be expected to be "digitally dominated" as a digital media floor.
This project was completed in Spring of 2021, the first of two in Interior Studio 2. The original materials palette and renderings did not turn out, so the space was reworked for a better end result.
*This is a conceptual design.*
RENDERED FLOOR PLAN
The library has identified approximately 3000 SF of space on the second floor that will be the future home for this project. This is a space where teens can hang out, get help with homework, experiment with design software in a range of disciplines, record music, and participate in a variety of digital media activities and workshops.
